An incredible restaurant in east London. Bright yellow and tiny in size, it serves the best fried chicken with American-style sides, including the dill and pomegranate slaw, which is unreal! Booking is recommended...

This restaurant in The Heron is a great way to start the day and there's not a bad view either... Breakfast is a must!!

Pho House

Pho House

After trying nearly all of the Vietnamese restaurants on Kingsland Road, this is by far the best. The setting is cool with graffiti style art on the walls and the service is excellent compared to other places on the same road. Complimentary tea and watermelon at the end is exactly what is needed after trying the extensive menu of pho, noodles, summer rolls and fresh fish.

"In 1968, the National Federation of Fish Friers finally came to the conclusion that fish and chips was invented in London! Credit went to Joseph Malin of Whitechapel, who in 1860 was the first person to combine the two."

Shoreditch's equally trendy neighbour, Hoxton has a well established arts and entertainment scene.

Nick Batten

Old Spitalfields Market is the perfect place to pick up a gift or dine in beautiful Victorian-designed surroundings.

Andrew Moores

The street art on this wall is constantly changing, which makes for a beautiful and rousing walk to work every morning. Expect the unexpected on Great Eastern Street!

About Shoreditch

Shoreditch is an area of London within the London Borough of Hackney. It is a built-up part of the inner city immediately to the north of the City of London, located 2.5 miles (4.0 km) east north east of Charing Cross. Shoreditch has, since around 1996, become a popular and fashionable part of London. Often conflated with neighbouring Hoxton, the area has been subject to considerable gentrification in the past twenty years, with accompanying rises in property prices. During the second 'dot-com' boom the area has become popular with London based web technology companies who base their head offices around Old Street.
